BREATHWORK

IS AN ANCIENT PRACTICE

My name is Emma, most people call me Em. I am an Occupational Therapist and Breathwork Facilitator. I have a background in clinical mental health, specialising in forensics.

I spent 4 years of my life working in a psychiatric hospital. Here I worked with people who had experienced significant trauma and to me, it always felt like they were stuck in that part of their life. Because they were. While I recognise the benefits of clinical mental health interventions, I always felt that something was missing.

Then I discovered breathwork.

Breathwork transformed my perspective on trauma, emotions, and energy. It taught me that regulating the nervous system through our breath allows for a deeper understanding of our thoughts and past experiences, and it can support the processing of trauma.

It's no longer seen as "woo woo" as it once was. Today, the effectiveness of breathwork on mental health is backed by science.

With all that being said, I love breathwork. It changed my life. It changed my perspective, and it has helped me understand myself better than I ever have before.

While I am still on my journey of self-discovery, I became a breathwork facilitator to share this magic (because that's what it feels like) with the world.

In my sessions, I still use frameworks from my clinical and science-based background, but I integrate them with a much more holistic and spiritual practice. This approach brings together the mind, body, and soul.

And ultimately, that's where true healing begins.
